- Excellent practice with courteous and friendly staff. I've had a few different dentists here, and all of them have been great. They readily utilize new technology as it becomes available, and even have the ability to make porcelain crowns right in the office, which comes in very handy since it means you don't have to make a second trip to have your crown done. - Going to the dentist growing up was my worst nightmare. Even as an adult, I can not say, for the most part that it was anything I looked forward to and usually put off as long as I could. Dr. Chan and staff changed all that. I now look forward to my checkups and teeth cleaning as a chance to visit with my "dentist family". - My spouse ran into a serious problem that occurred late on a Sunday night. Dr. Chan called us back and walked us through what we needed to do that night and then saw us the next morning. A lot of work needed to be done in the next two weeks and although their schedules were already full they not only found the time for the treatment, but she and her staff made sure we got all the time we needed to get the treatment explained and all of our questions answered. Additionally - there were multiple treatment options and Dr. Chan went out of her way to explain the pros/cons of each treatment AND made sure we understood each so that we could make an informed decision. - Dr. Chan's staff are always friendly and caring and they always great me with a smile. They are very personable and take the best care of me. They have a newer remodeled office and the latest in technology like digital X rays, a machine that makes crowns right in the office while you wait, and very comfortable dental chairs. I am offered a movie while they are helping me and movie screens are mounted on the ceilings in their rooms. We are treated to coffee, coconut water and other refreshments while in the reception room. The two words that describe this office most is 'Gentle Dentistry.' - From the unique office atmosphere (beautifully and comfortably designed, that is) to the first class dental care, this is an incredible service. I've been to many dentist offices in my life, but this is the first to offer movies on the ceiling (your choice of movie) while your work is being done. Yes, even comedies (they stop working if you're laughing!). A technically savvy office, and you can be assured you'll get timely notification of your appointment, and a follow up survey after. - It seems odd to click Five Stars, i.e. "Loved It." I've spent most of my life avoiding and fearing dentists who either: believed I deserved mouth pain; that pain made me a better person; or that saying "sorrysorry" was as effective as more Novocain at numbing pain. All refused to consider I might have a low pain threshold or use nitrous oxide. If you, like I, have dental issues and are checking out reviews, you can cut to the chase by picking up the phone and calling Dr. Chan. Or you can continue to read my review which will tell you how kind, gentle, considerate and skillful this dental practice is. They effortlessly blend state-of-the-art dental procedures with the tenderness of a best friend when you're having a bad day. They wrap me in blankets, shield my eyes with dark glasses, offer music or movies and whatever drugs are needed to relieve my anxiety. I feel like a pampered cruise ship passenger. Complex procedures no longer require repeat trips and hours of misery, in the Chair of Doom: many can be done in one appointment. And, I've had little to no pain after the numbing agents wear off. Several years ago, I had a tooth break days before Christmas. I hurried over to their office where I was carefully examined in the lobby by a dentist wearing an ugly sweater and reindeer antlers. (Yes, I had a hard time stopping my giggles long enough for her to peer into my mouth.) She'd interrupted the office Christmas party to care for me. Although it was Dec. 22, she was able to get an interim tooth made so I didn’t go through the holiday looking like an extra in “Deliverance.” And -- if you don’t have dental issues -- they’ll be just as kind to you as they are to me. - I love to go to my dental office. Its like dental heaven. I promise I used to have a hard time going to my old office(before Dr. Chan). I had a very bad experience when I was a child. I have a lot of work to be done and i am looking forward to completing with my new dentist. They are so gentle and are always making sure I am comfortable. They educate me and work with me when it seems like there are no options. Every single person you see there looks happy to be there and you can sincerely sense it as well. The office is very clean and welcoming. Last time I had a root canal. I watched a movie through the entire procedure. I had no pain really and that shows the gentleness,experience and knowledge they work with. I trust them and truly believe in referring them to all my family, friends and community. - Dr. Amanda Major is a terrific dentist, cordial, professional and competent. This was my second appointment since moving to Petaluma from Maryland in the fall of 2013. My first appointment several months ago was somewhat urgent when I lost a filling and part of a tooth and was able to get an appointment in a timely way which resulted in Dr. Amanda performing a crown installation which has worked out very well. This current appointment was a new patient comprehensive oral evaluation including full mouth X-rays and a cleaning. Dental Assistant Carly was especially helpful during this process including the use of current technology to make the process more efficient. As part of Dr. Amanda's thorough evaluation it was determined that the depth of a number of my gum pockets exceeded what is considered normal or healthy, resulting in two future appointments for a deep cleaning. I greatly appreciate her positive chair side manner and commitment to my dental health. Office personnel Judy and Lori were both very helpful with scheduling appointments and working with my dental insurance company to insure full and comprehensive coverage. - From start to finish, and this was my first dental appointment at Dr. Chan's practice, the care and professionalism was exceptional and this was the first time I had ever had my gums measured by a dentist or my teeth cleaned with a sonic tool. The imaging was more thorough than I had ever experienced, with both X-rays and digital photography employed, and the ability to see the fillings which Dr. Chan needs to replace on an overhead screen was also a first for me. - I had a two hour procedure with Dr. Amanda Major that I thought was going to be like a scene ouf of the movie Marathon Man. I am happy to report that it was nothing of the like.
